Essiac tea -
1 - Bring Sodium free distilled water to a rolling boil in a 4 gallon pot with lid on (Approximately 30 minutes).

2 - Stir in 1 cup of dry ingredients (store remainder of herb in a cool dark place; herbs are light-sensitive). Replace lid & continue boiling for 10 minutes.

3 - Turn off stove and scrape down sides of pot with spatula and stir mixture thoroughly; replace lid.

4 - Allow pot to remain closed for 12 hours, then set stove to highest setting and heat to almost boiling, approximately 20 minutes (Do not let mixture boil).

5 - Turn off stove. Strain liquid into 3 gallon pot. Clean 4 gallon pot and strainer. Then filter liquid back into 4 gallon pot.

6 - Use funnel to pour hot liquid into sterilized bottles immediately, taking care to tighten caps. Allow bottle to cool, then tighten caps again.

7 - Refrigerate. Essiac contains no preservative agents. (If mold should develop in bottle, discard immediately.)

8 - Shake bottle of Essiac. Take 4 Tablespoon (2 ounces) of Essiac Twice per day. Morning; you can eat 5 minutes after taking the Essiac. Bedtime: on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours after eating.

Infusion or Tea - Use 1 teaspoon of cut herb per cup of distilled water. Bring water to a boil, remove from the heat source, then add the applicable amount of herb to the water. Cover and allow to steep for at least 20 minutes (longer for stronger tea). Strain the herb & let stand until cool enough to drink.

Decoction - Cover roots, barks and other hard herbal material with water, an ounce of the herb to a pint and a half of water. Bring to a boil and gently simmer for about 20-30 minutes. Drain off the liquid while hot and press the herbs to make sure that the decoction is fully extracted. Decoctions are strong. Take as directed.

Fomentation - Soak a piece of gauze, Turkish towel or similar porous material in the infusion or decoction needed. Sometimes hot Apple Cider Vinegar is used. Cool until the material is just bearable. Cover with plastic or oil cloth to prevent the liquid from soaking bed clothes, etc. Keep damp and change periodically.

About Us

Melanie’s Health & Nutrition really began with Auminay Naturals which was formerly SkinTastic Creations. This product line took root over twenty years ago as Melanie faced cancer. After becoming aware of alternative therapies she worked to change to a healthier lifestyle and learn about herbs. She developed what is now the Auminay Naturals product line by eventually learning to infuse these herbs into products that used natural ingredients to provide skin care products for a healthier lifestyle. In 2017, as a newly certified Master Herbalist, Melanie opened Melanie’s Health & Nutrition to provide a resource for the Tooele community. The Auminay products are now made in the back section of the store. Melanie and her staff love to serve the community and provide opportunities for learning, as well as products that empower people to be healthier.
